Welcome to the Grant Transit Authority

Grant Transit Authority is a Public Transportation Benefit Area (PTBA) serving Grant County, WA. The mission of Grant Transit Authority is to provide safe, high quality & cost efficient public transportation, vanpool & dial-a-ride services which will enhance the mobility and quality of life for our citizens and promote a healthy economy and positive image for our growing communities. 

GTA offers a deviated fixed-route system, with complementary paratransit service for those individuals who have a disability which makes it impossible for them to access or use the deviated fixed-route system.

Position: Transit Vehicle Cleaner / Facilities Maintenance Worker

Location/Department: Maintenance Department

Reports To: Scott Barham, GTA Fleet & Facilities Maintenance Manager


Qualifications and Requirements:

Current and valid Washington State Driver’s License, Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements. Regular and reliable attendance, with effective and positive working relationships established. Any combination of education and experience sufficient to understand verbal and written instructions.

Position Summary:

GTA has an opening for a Transit Vehicle Cleaner/Facilities Maintenance Worker with a current/valid Class B CDL. This position is an entry level position involving the cleaning of various transit vehicles and transit shelters. Duties include cleaning the interior and exteriors of vehicles, as well as performing field work as related to cleaning passenger bus shelters, landscape maintenance and bus stop sign maintenance. 

This individual must be able to keep accurate records of cleaning and maintenance activity, as well as make notes and be able to identify components that need repair and/or replacement.  Knowledge of the use of hand cleaning equipment, pressure washers and vacuum cleaners.  Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. Ability to write routine reports and notes of work accomplished and repair or replacement needs.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to safely pull and backup a small trailer. Requires occasional travel, may work in all weather extremes. Possible exposure to insects, pollen, dust, smoke, noxious odors, fumes, or chemicals, solvents, oil, ink or vibrations, and/or traffic. Frequent climbing and balancing, frequent kneeling/crouching/crawling while making repairs in confined spaces and awkward positions. Constant use of both hands and arms, occasional heavy work, includes lifting and carrying up to 40-60 pounds. Required to wear safety protective gear when necessary. Most work is performed in an outdoor and/or garage-type environment. Field work will include but not limited to: minor landscaping around bus shelters, graffiti cleanup, removal of stickers and trash from the bus zones. Operation on transit vehicles, fueling busses and other transit vehicles.  Work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call duty including weekends and evenings if needed.
